Intro Part 4: Is this an MLM?

This sounds like an MLM.  Is this an MLM or a Pyramid Scheme?

No its not.  This is an affiliate marketing program.

However, the guys behind iHub, the partners in this company, are all old network marketing guys.  So they do pitch this whole thing very MLM like.

They did grossly over complicate the affiliate payouts, due to simply how they think and how they communicate with their network of people.

You get paid by having a Helium Hotspot active at your location.  Or from multiple hotspots, if you are lucky enough to have multiple locations to place them.

You also get a referral commission, for anyone you refer into the program, who uses your affiliate link.

In this case, since the technology requires that this be 1 hotspot per location (currently defined as a physical mailing address) and most people only have 1 location (their home), running this as an affiliate program really makes some sense.

Some people are gonna do this as a business, so for them it does end up running more like an MLM, and thats why the complicated referral payout plan is in place.  For normal folks, its just a 10% referral.
